Our Old-Fashioned Coarse Grain Mustard is developed for those who want a mustard with depth, roundness and a distinct texture. The whole mustard seeds provide a pleasant crispness and a more nuanced flavor than the classic Dijon, making it incredibly versatile in the everyday kitchen.

Why choose CARDENAU Coarse Grain Mustard?

The flavor is a bit milder than Dijon, but still has a strong character. The big advantage is the texture; the small grains tie your dishes together visually and add a natural complexity that you don't find in smooth mustards. It's a mustard that's easy to love and will quickly become a kitchen staple.

  • Whole mustard seeds: Adds a wonderful texture, character and crispness to food.
  • Round and full-bodied: Slightly milder than Dijon, making it easy to use in larger quantities.
  • Professional 770 g jar: Perfect for those who use mustard often in everyday life or at parties.
  • Visual appeal: Gives your dressings and marinades the right rustic look.

Use: The ultimate mustard for potato salad and barbecue

Coarse-grained mustard is a must in a classic potato salad or as a glaze on oven-baked vegetables. Also try it in a coarse vinaigrette with our organic olive oil to give your salads a rustic touch.

During the grilling season, it is indispensable as a base for marinades for meat or simply as an accompaniment to a good sausage. It tolerates heat well and retains its structure even when used in hot sauces. Find more inspiration in our universe of recipes .

We chose this coarse-grained mustard in the large 770g size because we know that once you get a taste for good mustard, small jars rarely last long. It's one of those "essentials" we reach for every single day. Developed with care, chosen with consideration.

  • Beaufor - The manufacturer behind

We have always seen mustard as one of the small but crucial ingredients in a kitchen. Not just as a strength or heat, but as a flavor enhancer that can bring a dish together, elevate it, and give it character.

Mustard has always had a permanent place in our kitchens. And never just one type. Because, like wine and vinegar, each mustard has its own personality, its own history and its own special function in food.

When we started looking for a producer we could vouch for, tradition or good taste weren't enough. We wanted a partnership with someone who understood the demands of gastronomy, the importance of raw materials and the craftsmanship behind a strong mustard.

The answer came to us in a rather unusual way. When Francis Cardenau participated as a judge at the Bocuse d'Or, he asked his colleagues from Team France which mustard they themselves used in their Michelin-starred kitchens. The answer was almost the same all the way around – Beaufor.

A producer with more than 100 years of experience, rooted in Champagne, and part of the family-owned Charbonneaux-Brabant, Beaufor selects their raw materials with precision and works with methods that preserve the mustard's natural strength, balance and purity.

It's mustard at its best. Created to elevate dishes without overwhelming them and to create flavor where there was previously silence. Together, we've selected a series of mustards, each offering their own intensity, texture and role in the kitchen.
